Using brains and guile, “Mad Dog” dominated Major League hitters for 23 seasons.  Maddux began his career with the Chicago Cubs before inexplicably being allowed to depart to the Atlanta Braves as a free agent following the 1992 season.  While in Atlanta, Maddux won 3 straight Cy Young awards, led the National League in earned run average 4 times, and was a member of the 1995 World Series Champions.

Throughout his career, he was an 8-time All-Star and 18-time Gold Glove winner.  His 355 career wins rank eighth in Major League history.  Although impressive in any period, Maddux’s accomplishments are more notable in that his career overlapped the live-ball age where home runs were frequent and countless hitters were using steroids.
