Michael Jordan 1984-85 Star #101

Position: Guard

Teams: Chicago Bulls (1984-1993 and 1995-1998), Washington Wizards (2001-2003)

Basketball Hall of Fame: 2009

Jordan’s story is fascinating.  After being cut from his high school team, he went on to become a National Champion and All-American under Dean Smith at North Carolina and won 6 NBA Championships and 5 MVP Awards in a legendary career with the Bulls.  In addition, Jordan’s partnership with Nike has made him one of the most famous athletes on the planet.

My favorite Jordan card may not be the one you expected to see on this list.  I like the 1984-85 Star for the straight-forward design, which captures an era before Jordan and the NBA took the world by storm.  As a hobby nerd, I am also compelled to point out that the 1984-85 Star is a “true rookie”, while the more well-known 1986-87 Fleer card is not.
