Alvarez is projected to start 2023 in AAA, but the Mets plan to begin the year with a platoon of Omar Narvaez and Tomas Nido at catcher is less than exciting and should open a big-league opportunity for Alvarez during the season.  Alvarez needs to improve his overall defense and will never hit for a high average, but he should have a decent Major League career based on his strong arm and ability to hit home runs.  Alvarez’s first Bowman Chrome only comes in an autograph version, and it is expensive.  Raw copies are priced around $300.
