Caeleb Dressel

2019 Sports Illustrated for Kids #864

Dressel has been anointed by several members of the United States swimming community as the next Michael Phelps.  As a 20-year-old in Rio de Janeiro, he won two gold medals and is the current world record holder in the 100-meter butterfly, the 50-meter freestyle, and the 100-meter individual medley.  Michael Phelps and Mark Spitz are the only athletes to win more than 6 medals at a single Olympics.  Dressel is a favorite to medal in seven swimming events in Tokyo.  It will be exciting to see if he is able to join Phelps and Spitz in the exclusive plus-6 medal group.

How about you?  Are you looking forward to the Tokyo Olympics?  Are there athletes you are excited to watch?  I would love to hear from you!  Please leave your comments in the section below.
