The second card of cards is Jay Johnstone, a former Cubs player. His 1984 fleer card features him wearing an umbrella hat with Budweiser labels completely covering it. Some of his antics during his baseball career include placing a brownie in his teammate Steve Garvey’s cleats and locking his manager Tommy Lasorda in his office during a spring training game. Jay was also known to dress up as a groundskeeper at Dodger Stadium with a fellow teammate Jerry Reuss. Fair warning, this antic is rather graphic- when they began to drug test baseball players in the 1980’s through urine screens, Jay thought it would be funny to substitute his urine with apple juice. He brought his “sample” back to the doctor and the doctor asked him to submit another sample as the one he provided appeared too murky to test. Jay expected as much and drank his “sample” in front of the undoubtedly horrified doctor. Enough said.
