Potential Baseball Hall of Famers (Part 1 of 3)
Bryce Harper
Lots of commentors believe Harper to be a Hall of Fame certainty, but I have doubts. Helping Harper’s case is that he is a 2-time MVP and a 7-time All-Star. On the other hand, he has never been on a championship team, plays terrible defense, and is frequently injured. Additionally, one of the most important statistics in Hall of Fame evaluation is wins above replacement (WAR). A WAR of 5 or more is an All-Star level year. Since 2016, Harper has averaged a WAR of 3.2 per season, which is not trending in a Hall of Fame direction. Finally, he will never win a contest for Mr. Congeniality, which may not be fair but this matters to voters. Harper’s first prospect card is in 2010 Bowman Chrome. PSA 9 copies are $95 and PSA 10 versions are $325.
How about you? Do any of the players listed here not make your Hall of Fame cut? Are there rookie or prospect cards that you think are better options for the players on this list? I would love to hear from you. Please leave your comments in the section below and keep watching this website for the second and third parts of this series.
