“The Sultan of Swat” achieved a lifetime batting average of .342 and hit 714 home runs during his 22-year career. As a pitcher he had a lifetime record of 94-46 and a career earned run average of 2.28. Sadly, Ruth passed away in 1948 at the age of 53, and although he has been gone for almost 75 years, he remains an icon of American sport.
