After winning the 2019 American League Rookie of the Year Award, Alvarez missed all but two games of the 2020 season with a knee injury.  At the half-way point of the 2021 season, the Astros have one of the best records in baseball and Alverez is on pace to bat over .300, hit 30 home runs, and knock in 100 runs.  While his designated hitter status and the taint of the Astros sign-stealing scandal may hold down the value of Alverez’s cards long-term, current prices seem unbelievably low when considering his production, age, and team’s success.  One example is his 2020 Topps Chrome in a PSA 10, which will only set you back $75.
