MLB Players to Watch (Part 2 of 2)
Jarred Kelenic
A former hobby darling and top five prospect, Kelenic had an atrocious start to his Major League career, averaging an OPS of less than .600 over 147 games in 2021 and 2022. Early results this season indicate that Kelenic might be figuring things out. Through twenty-three games he has an OPS over 1.000 and played a solid left field for the Mariners.
Furthermore, in a three-game series in early April in Chicago against the Cubs, Kelenic hit two monster home runs. One hit high up on the right field score board, and the other landed in the second deck of the center field bleachers. For those familiar with Wrigley Field, this is Sammy Sosa and Kyle Schwarber territory and reflects the power potential scouts identified in Kelenic as he progressed through the minor leagues. Even with his hot start, Kelenic’s 2018 Bowman Chrome Draft is only $25 in PSA 9 and $45 in PSA 10.
