A Love Letter to Flea Markets
Ken Griffey Jr.
Griffey was a first-ballot Hall of Famer in 2016, receiving more than ninety-nine percent of votes cast. One of the few power hitters of his era untainted by performance enhancing drugs, Griffey is still widely collected today. Griffey’s 1989 Upper Deck rookie is a card instantly recognized by most collectors and sells for $2,000 in gem mint condition. I purchased a copy of Griffey’s 1997 Topps card for fifty cents and was able to resell it on eBay for five dollars.
