A Love Letter to Flea Markets
Michael Jordan
Jordan owned the NBA in the 1990s, winning six championships and five MVP awards, securing his status as one of the greatest basketball players in history. Given his legacy, I am consistently surprised at how frequently Jordan’s cards pop up as I am out and about. In the last year, I have bought approximately twenty of his cards at flea markets and thrift stores. One example is his 1996-97 Skybox Premium, which depicts “His Airness” in flight ready to finish a dunk. I purchased this card for a dollar and sold it for seven on eBay.
