1994-95 Topps #371 Jason Kidd

PSA 9 eBay Buy It Now Cost: $28

PSA 9 Population: 72

In 19 professional seasons, Kidd was a 10-time All-Star, 9-time All-Defensive Team selection, and won a championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011.  When he retired, Kidd ranked third all-time in regular season triple doubles with 107.  In 2021, he was included as a member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.

Before deciding to buy the Kidd rookie, it is important to be aware of the nuances of the 1994-95 Topps set.  1994-95 Topps includes two Kidd rookies.  I prefer #371, which shows Kidd in action, while #37 is the classic draft night hat pose.  In addition, there are Spectralight parallel versions of each of these cards.  When light moves across the gold foil of the Spectralights, a rainbow effect is produced.  Currently, the Kidd Spectralights have an extraordinarily low PSA population.  If you ever encounter copies of Kidd’s Spectralights graded PSA 9 or above, I would think hard before passing them up.

How about you?  Are there cards from your youth or the junk wax era that you are looking to track down?  I would love to hear from you!  Please leave your comments in the section below.
