One of the most punishing runners in NFL history, Brown was an all-pro in each of his 9 seasons and selected as league MVP three times. Brown also won a title with Cleveland in 1964, the last championship for the franchise. In 1966, when Cleveland owner, Art Modell, threatened to fine him $100 a day for missing training camp, Brown promptly retired from professional football, launching the next phase of his life as an actor and social activist.
