The “Kansas Comet” played seven glorious seasons with the Bears before knee injuries ended his career prematurely. Although a Hall of Famer, Sayers is more well known for the movie Brian’s Song which details his friendship with teammate Brian Piccolo and is based on Sayers’s autobiography I Am Third, where he describes he journey toward deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. Gayle Sayers was a Hall of Fame player and person, and that is why he makes my list.
