Giants of the Game
Number four, David Kingman, standing at 6’6. He was nicknamed “Sky King” and “King Kong”. He was a three time All Star, with 442 career home runs and 1210 RBI’s, and most importantly, a former Chicago Cubs outfielder and first baseman. He ranks among the top home run hitters in major league baseball that are not in the hall of fame. He played for eight teams in his career. My favorite Kong card would have to be his 1979 card with the Chicago Cubs. It has everything a card should have: an action shot displaying fans in their seats in the background, with the brick wall that surrounds the diamond. It was clearly taken at Wrigley Field as well, the greatest ballpark known to man. More importantly, it shows a full shot of the Chicago Cubs uniform (“Is this heaven? No, it’s Wrigley Field”).
