O’Neal was a 15-time All-Star, won the 2000 NBA MVP and earned 3 championships with the famous Los Angeles Laker teams of the 2000s.  As the #1 draft pick in 1992, O’Neal has a bunch of rookie cards from which to choose.  His Topps, Fleer Ultra, Stadium Club, Hoops, and SkyBox all cost $50 or less in PSA 9 condition.  

My preference is the Upper Deck, which is borderless and shows a young O’Neal progressively jumping toward the hoop.  Keep in mind that there are two versions of the O’Neal Upper Deck rookie.  The pictured version says “#1 NBA Draft Pick” in gold letters at the top of the card.  This version could be pulled from packs of Upper Deck Series 2 Basketball.  The more plentiful version says “Trade Card” in gold letters at the top of the card and was part of a redemption program.  The “Trade Card” usually sells for about $100 less in PSA 9 condition than the “#1 NBA Draft Pick” edition.
